Recently I experienced two instances which I would like to share with you and would love to hear your opinions.

Few years back, 4 years to be precise, I helped a young man out. He was earning very little money, working on a 12 hour shift, 6 days a week. He was working somewhere which had no scope of career growth. I liked him and felt that he was alone and lost in Dubai, which was one of the reasons why his employers were taking advantage of this poor soul.

I took him under my wing, coached him, increased his salary 5 folds, paid for his driving lessons, provided him with an apartment, a car and set up a business for him.

Within one year, he was earning ten times more than what he was earning, driving a new car with a UAE driving license and had staff working under him.

Then I found out that he was meeting some clients behind my back. I confronted him and reminded him of where he had come from in such a short period of time and never forget the past.

His answer was “why would I want to even think about the past and why would you want to remind me?”

I was so hurt that I stopped doing business with him and never met with him again. I stopped dealing with him.

Now my second experience –

Over the past 25 years, I was emotionally supporting a lady (single mum) and her daughter on a regular basis. We used to communicate by either meeting face to face or by talking on the phone. Whenever I visited England I made sure I spent some time with her, lifting her motivation and being there for her when she needed someone. A shoulder to cry on or a voice of reason.

Even when her daughter was going through a rough time I spent time with her.

No matter how much money I make or how busy I am I always try to make time for people or make them feel important and special.

Every day I hope to live in gratitude and never take my wealth or status for granted.

Recently the young lady married a very wealthy individual who has connections in the African country. It just happens that I am working with a charity organisation in that country to provide opportunities to children who otherwise will have no chance to prosper.

I wanted to connect with the daughter and discuss our charity plans in that particular country, but I realized that I no longer had her contact details.

So I called the mother who now lives in a much better neighborhood, in a new house and rightfully with less worries. The lady whom I had only met a few weeks back with my wife and family.

Upon my request for her daughter’s number, she insisted that she no longer gives out her daughter’s number. She asked me to pass my number to her daughter and she would decide if should want to contact me or not!

I asked her to not bother passing the message and I no longer wanted to have anything to do with them. I reminded her that I am a wealthy man with a number of companies and always found time for them but she did not to be bothered or be reminded.

One thing I do believe in is Karma and how god can very quickly teach all of us a lesson and we should never forget our origins.

I have been there and lost it all and my advice to these people is to never forget where they came from. Never forget their values and remain humble.

I would love to hear your comments and feedback
